Hay,

first-ever PS5 launch, Assassin's Creed's pirate comeback, and Pal world's full release here's what's actually worth playing this July.

Summer always expected a quiet month for new games. But Not this July.

Three of the biggest names in gaming are all launching within three weeks and each one is a big deal for a different reasons. One is a franchise finally showing up on a console it's never touched before. Another is a survival game closing a two and a half year chapter. And the third brings back a pirate captain a lot of us have not sailed with in over a decade.

what's coming, when it's landing.

[IMAGE: Cozy gaming setup with controller and glowing lights — hero/cover image]

If you played the original Black Flag back in 2013, you already known why people are excited about this one. It's still considered one of the best Assassins Creed games ever made, and Ubisoft is not messing with that formula much this is a faithful remake, not a reinvention.

You're back in the boots of Edward Kenway sailing the Caribbean boarding enemy ships and switching between quiet stealth kills and messy sword fights. The graphics have been completely redone, the combat feels sharper, and even the weather and water look and move more realistically than before. Edward's original voice actor came back to record new lines, so returning fans will hear some fresh story moments too.

One thing worth knowing: this isn't turning into an RPG with levels and gear scores like recent Assassin's Creed games. Ubisoft kept it simple on purpose sail, fight, explore.

It's out July 9 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

[IMAGE: Pirate ship sailing on the ocean at sunset]

Pal world has spent the last two and a half years in Early Access, and on July 10, that officially ends. This isn't a small update Pocket pair (the studio behind it) says the patch notes alone run 27 pages long.

The headline addition is the World Tree, an area that's been locked behind a barrier since the game first launched, now finally open as a proper endgame zone. There's also a new item called the Wing Pack that lets you fly around freely, without giving up one of your five Pal slots just to bring a flying creature along something players have complained about since day one.

If you already own Pal world, good news: your existing save carries over, no wipe. That said, the developers suggest starting a new save if you want to experience everything the way it's meant to be played from the start.

It launches free for existing owners on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass all at the same time.

[IMAGE: Fantasy creature or monster in a colorful open-world game setting]

Halo: Campaign Evolved July 28

This is the one people are talking about the most, and not just because of the game itself. Halo has been an Xbox-only franchise since it launched in 2001. That changes this July, when Halo: Campaign Evolved becomes the first mainline Halo campaign to ever land on PlayStation.

The game is a full rebuild of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, done in Unreal Engine 5 with sharper visuals and updated controls. It also adds three brand-new missions, called Operation: METEORITE, set a year before the story you already know. New to this version: you can now hijack enemy vehicles, including driving a Covenant Wraith tank, something the original game never let you do.

You can play solo, with a friend in split-screen on console, or with up to four people online.

It's out July 28 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, with early access starting July 23 for anyone who buys the Premium or Collector's Edition. It's also available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

[IMAGE: Futuristic soldier or sci-fi armor in an action game]

Those three are the big ones, but July has more going on if you look past the headlines. Splatoon Raiders is the series' first spin off in four years, swapping the usual inkbased battles for a coop treasure hunt across a new set of islands. There's also a solid batch of indie co-op horror games landing this month for anyone whose friend group enjoys getting scared together, plus Fog piercer a scifi card based survival game set on a train crossing a frozen world.

Whether you're picking up a controller for a pirate adventure, jumping back into Palworld now that it's finally "finished," or experiencing Halo on a console it's never been on before, July 2026 gives you very little reason to be bored. Pick one, or honestly, pick all three your backlog can wait.

[IMAGE: Friends gaming together on a couch, casual and fun mood]
